For those of you using Facebook messenger channels on your GeckoChat account, you may have noticed that responding to messages from a few days ago can sometimes be more difficult than you anticipated. If so, you've likely stumbled upon what Facebook calls the '24+1 policy'.
If a student sends you a message on Facebook messenger, this begins a 24-hour countdown. During these 24 hours, you can respond to the student as many times as you'd like. It's worth noting that the 24-hour time limit is refreshed each time a student responds to any of your messages.
If, however, you don't respond within 24-hours of the student's last message, Facebook limits you to only being able to send approximately one message to the student. Trying to send more will result in Facebook blocking your messages until such a time that the student responds to your first message.
So to summarise; if the student messaged you on Facebook more than 24-hours ago be mindful - you'll only be able to send them one message back. So make it count!
