"What's the difference between a web only and a mobile only form field?" is a question we sometimes get asked in relation to our form builder in GeckoCapture.
To put it simply, if you've used Web Only fields on your form, it will display as intended across any device (desktops, mobiles, tablets) EXCEPT if your form is being shown on one of our offline data capture apps, Capture or Visit.
Let's illustrate this with an example. Imagine you've built a form using a Text Block (Web Only) and Media (Mobile Only) form field. If you email a prospective student a link to your form, when they open the form, they'll only be able to see the Text Block. However, If you took the same form with you to a recruitment event and used the Capture app to display the form, you would only be able to see the Media field.
The easy way of remembering: Mobile Only fields will only display if you're viewing the form through one of our apps (Capture, Visit or Windows Desktop Gecko Form app).
Web Only fields will display if you're viewing the form anywhere else!
