Event Categories allow you to keep track of events relevant to your team, easily coordinate a series of recurring events, and enable you to find the event you need in seconds.
Categories have three main uses across Gecko:
Allowing you to quickly find your events.
Allowing you to group together related events.
Allow you to direct the Event Field on your forms towards the right event(s).
To add a new event category when creating a new event, simply navigate to the Category field and type in your desired category name.
It's nice to note that you can add as many categories as you like. Once made, a category can easily be applied to future events in the same fashion.
To add a category to an existing event, click on the event and head to the Edit tab. You'll find the Category field a short scroll down the page.
The event field
Relevant to GeckoCapture + GeckoVisit clients, the Event field is a powerful way of managing your event. Gecko uses Event Categories to define which events you'd like students to be able to pick from. Simply go to the field settings and input your Event Category here. Note; you can only add one category at a time, so if you wish multiple events to be visible, be certain to give them all the same event category!
Another nice feature of using categories is the ease with which you'll be able to find your event. Click Events on the left-hand nav bar. Now navigate to Filters > Category. You can input your categories here to easily find your event(s) in no time at all.
