This article will teach you how to manage your widget successfully.

Understanding the Widgets Dashboard

You can view any/all widgets you've created by clicking the Widgets button in the navbar at the top of the page:

You'll get a dashboard view of all of your widgets. This view comprises a few options:

  • Widget Name - The internal name for your widget.

  • Times Opened (Last 7 Days) - A breakdown of how many times your widget has been opened in the past 7 days. Hovering over the data points on the graph will break the data down further into times opened by the webpage the widget is embedded on. The Times Opened data is calculated by adding the number of unique sessions in which the widget was opened on any given page.

For example, if a student visits your homepage and opens the widget, that would count as one unique Time Opened. If the student then navigates to the Admissions homepage and opens the widget again, that'd count as a second Time Opened. If the student then stayed on the Admissions homepage and spammed opening and closing the widget 10 times, the Time Opened would remain at 2. Only refreshing the page, closing / reopening your browser, or navigating to a new webpage before opening the widget again would increase the count further. It takes around 10 minutes for new analytics events to feed into your dashboard.

  • Components Clicked (Last 7 Days) - A breakdown of how many times your components have been clicked in the past 7 days. Hovering over the data points on the graph will filter results by component clicks per webpage.

The Components Clicked data is calculated using the same unique session guidelines outlined in the Times Opened section. Component data is aggregated as opposed to being displayed on a component-by-component basis. It takes around 10 minutes for new analytics events to feed into your dashboard.

  • Status - A quick visual health indicator. Green = the widget is active and live. Red = the widget has been disabled. To disable/enable a widget, click the cog icon to the right of the status and select Enable/Disable widget.

Making Changes to your Widget

If you need to make any changes to your widget after it has been launched, head to your Widgets Dashboard, find the widget you'd like to change, and click the cog icon to the far right of the Widget name. From the dropdown, select Edit Widget.

Any changes you make to the widget will be pushed live immediately once you've clicked Save Changes in section 3 of the widget builder.

Sharing your widget (again!)

Finding your widget embed code to share with your IT/CMS/Web content management team is quick and easy to do.

Navigate to your Widgets Dashboard, find the widget you'd like to change, and click the cog icon to the far right of the Widget name. From the dropdown, select View Embed Code. Here you can easily copy the code to your clipboard or send an email containing your code to any external email address.
