Payments can be used to charge for your Events, individual Sessions, or a combination of both.
Adding a cost to an event
Open your event and head to Settings. Under Event Cost, enter the amount you'd like to charge for attendance.
Add an amount to make attendance chargeable
Leave Event Cost blank to keep the event free
The currency is determined by the payment integration selected on the form used to register for your event.
Adding a cost to a session
You can also charge for individual sessions within your event. Open the session, head into Settings, and enter an amount under Session Cost.
đĄ You can keep the event free, but only charge for specific sessions!
For example, you could create:
A free event with paid sessions
A paid event with free sessions
A paid event with additional paid sessions
A completely free event and free sessions
There's no requirement to charge at both event and session level.
Adding your paid event to a form
Once your costs are set, add your event to a paid form using an Event Field.
When someone completes the form, they'll see the cost of the event and any paid sessions they select. Gecko automatically builds their basket and displays the total amount before they proceed to payment.
What happens to event attendance while payment is being made?
When someone proceeds to payment, Gecko reserves their space by adding them to the event or session with a Payment Pending status. This prevents somebody else from taking their place while their payment is still being processed.
Their attendance is then managed automatically:
â Successful payment â Attendance moves to Registered
âł Pending payment â Their space remains reserved for the selected "expiry minutes" time
â Failed or expired payment â They're removed from the event/session and their space becomes available again
There's nothing you need to manually configure for this behaviour - Gecko handles it automatically based on the payment status đ
