Unibuddy is a peer-to-peer chat tool that connects prospective students with active students, ambassadors, and alums.
Gecko integrates with Unibuddy via an API connection, which triggers an import into Gecko in the early hours of each morning (~ 3-4 AM). During this import, any newly created or updated contacts in Unibuddy are pulled into Gecko. This integration is one-directional, meaning that data flows in one direction from Unibuddy to Gecko.
The integration also allows your Gecko events to be shared within your Unibuddy Communities.
Integrating Unibuddy with Gecko
Firstly, log in to Unibuddy and navigate to Integrations > CRMs and create a new Gecko Engage Integration. Take note of your Setup token. You'll need this momentarily!
Next, log in to Gecko and head to Settings > Integrations. Click + New integration in the top-right, click the Unibuddy card, and fill in the following fields:
Unibuddy API Key - Paste your Unibuddy integration Setup token here.
Event Registration Form - Select a Gecko form with at least one event type field on it that will be used in your Unibuddy widget to promote upcoming events.
Event Category - Select a category of events you'd like to showcase in your Unibuddy widget via your Event Registration Form.
Lastly, click Save. Congratulations! Your Gecko x Unibuddy accounts will now be linked.
Using Unibuddy data in Gecko
The following information flows from Unibuddy into Gecko:

Once synced, this information is treated as a Gecko Contact field, allowing it to be used in filtering and searches.

Sharing Gecko events in Unibuddy
In addition to pulling data from Unibuddy, the integration also enables seamless sharing of your Gecko events within your Unibuddy community.
To enable this functionality, after creating the integration, log in to Unibuddy and navigate to your Community Settings page. In the Chat Settings area, look for the Enable integration with external events (Gecko) and toggle this on.
Once enabled, your upcoming Gecko events will be advertised via the events embed, pre-configured to pull through the event category and booking form you set up during the integration setup.
Inviting students to your Unibuddy Community
The integration also unlocks the Invite to Unibuddy Community workflow action.
Available across all Gecko Form, Event, Call, Broadcast, and Conversation workflows, when triggered, this workflow automatically adds the Gecko contact to the Unibuddy user's table for the relevant community, triggering the usual invitation emails and communications.
Your Unibuddy Community ID can be found by logging in to Unibuddy and navigating to your Unibuddy Community Dashboard > Active Communities and copying the relevant ID:
